Step Right Up

First of all, can anybody guess what this is?

Here's a close-up:If anyone can tell me exactly what these photos are, I will send her (or him) some yarn. Or maybe I'll send it to whoever gets closest, since I'm not sure anyone will guess exactly. It's a new project I'm quite excited about.

What else have I been up to? Well...

I blocked my Shetland Triangle:
I have been wearing this thing almost every day. Chicago = not very warm yet.

I cast on for Tempest:Is it me, or does involving stripes make knitting stockinette seem a lot faster?

AND I designed and knit a (rather simple) market bag.
Presenting Ilene:I've written down the pattern and once I figure out how to put it on the internet neatly, I will do so. There are more photos on Ravelry.

I will guess human hair, entwined a bit; knotted perhaps?

I'm gonna go with handspun plied angora...

Hmm, I know from your Ravelry profile that you don't have any pets, but it kind of looks like the stuff I get off my Persian, and then think to myself, wouldn't that be a lovely yarn? I'm going to guess cat hair - maybe it's from a friend! Although, like kglo, I initially thought angora! seems like you wouldn't ask us if it was something so simple though - it's gotta be more exotic than that!

Ooh, I also forgot to comment that I love the market bag! It's perfect with the wide short handle - I have one that I never use because, sure it'll expand enough to fit a couple full sized adults in, but that baby will slice you arm right off because it's all supported by a couple long thin straps - stupid design, but yours is brilliant!
